City Council

City Council meetings are held at City Hall the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Agendas are available on Thursday at noon before each meeting. The official agenda is posted outside of city hall in a display case, at the Lathrop Post Office, Lathrop Community Center and at the Fire Station. Special meetings are scheduled and posted as needed.

Council meetings are taped and then televised on your local broadcast cable channel 97 at 7:00 PM on Tuesday and Noon on Wednesday following the Council Meeting.

City Council Adopts Economic Development Strategic Plan

On January 6, 2009, the City Council adopted resolution 09- 2729 officially adopting the Economic Development Strategic Plan. The plan consists of four goals:

  1. Business Attraction, Expansion, and Retention
  2. Develop a commercial land base conducive to the recuritment of industries, retail development, and office commercial development
  3. Expand public infrastructure and other essentials to allow for the timely development of industry
  4. Promote a positive Community Image

This plan will be used to:

  • Identify the vision of the future economy and the industries that will serve as targets for recruitment and expansion
  • Set the priorities of the Economic Developemnt Team in allocating resources to pursue its mission of regional economic development
  • Identify strategic opportunities and /or weaknesses that must be addressed in order to create jobs and investments
  • Identify stategies to increase the region's competitiveness when high-wage businesses and industries select sites
  • Create ample cultural entertainment and recreational opportunities in order to imporve the quality of life of the citizens of the City

Role:
The Economic Planning Team will create the Economic Development Strategic Plan for the City of Lathrop.  Once the Plan has been developed the Planning Team will continue to meet quarterly to monitor and update the Plan as needed. 

The Team will also be responsible for advising the City Council on a variety of Economic Development matters as new issues and ideas are brought forward.  The Team may initiate or encourage programs designed to enhance the economy of Lathrop.

Function:
The function of the Planning Team shall be as follows:

  • Establish explicit economic goals to be achieved;
  • Identify performance objectives, quantified in terms of appropriate units of measure for each goal;
  • Identify a variety of possible courses of action for achieving each of the performance objectives;
  • Conduct a comparative assessment for each course of action and select the best course for each objective
  • Assist in the implementation of each course of action;
  • Measure and evaluate the performance of each course of action;
  • Make adjustments to the goals, objectives or course of action as new data is gathered.
  • Act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all matters pertaining to Economic Development;
  • Recommend to the City Council the establishment of general policies, rules, regulations and programs that will enhance the economy of Lathrop;
  •  To perform such other duties as may be requested from time to time by the City Council;
