City Council

City Council meetings are held at City Hall the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Agendas are available on Thursday at noon before each meeting. The official agenda is posted outside of city hall in a display case, at the Lathrop Post Office, Lathrop Community Center and at the Fire Station. Special meetings are scheduled and posted as needed.

Council meetings are taped and then televised on your local broadcast cable channel 97 at 7:00 PM on Tuesday and Noon on Wednesday following the Council Meeting.

Kristy SaylesSayles
Mayor

Kristy Sayles is a 5th generation Lathrop resident, and owns and operates a home child care facility named Early Start Child Development Center. She has been in the service of children and families since 2000.

She was first elected to the Lathrop City Council in the November 2005 Special Election, receiving nearly 50% of the vote in a field of 4 candidates. She defeated her nearest opponent by approximately 10%. Kristy was appointed to the position of Mayor Pro Tem in July of 2006. Kristy was elected as Mayor in the November 2006 election, and re-elected to her second term as Mayor in the November 2008 election.

Kristy is active in a number of community organizations, and has served as a committee member of the various Mayors committees in Lathrop as well as other non profit boards around San Joaquin County.

In addition, Kristy is a member of Lighthouse Community Church where she regularly attends and volunteers. As part of her volunteer work, she and her husband Thomas have traveled to Romania on a number of occasions to coordinate and build a Teen Center for orphaned children. With their family construction business, Sayles Construction, they have volunteered in the Louisiana Relief Effort, rebuilding homes damaged from hurricane Katrina, at no cost to the home owner for their services.

Kristy and her husband, Thomas, have 6 children - 1 of which is adopted. They range in age from Jessica who is 22 to Auston who is 6.  Kristy is also an active homeschooling mom.
