Water Conservation


  1. No watering between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Water runoff is prohibited.
  2. The application of potable water to outdoor landscapes in a manner that causes runoff such that water flows on to adjacent property, non-irrigated areas, private and public walkways, roadways, parking lots, or structures is prohibited.
  3. Addresses ending in odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, & 9) will water on WEDNESDAY and SUNDAY before 10am and after 7pm.
  4. Addresses ending in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, & 8) will water on TUESDAY and SATURDAY before 10am and after 7pm.
  5. Commercial and Industrial customers shall water only on TUESDAY and FRIDAY before 10am and after 7pm.
  7. Washing of building exteriors, sidewalks, driveways, etc., is prohibited except in the case of spillage of substances that would be harmful to the public health of the environment.
  8. All controllable leaks should be repaired.
  9. Watering landscapes during high winds that create water to blow away from the landscapes being watered is prohibited.
  10. All ornamental fountains shall be turned off with the exception of fountains employing the use of water-recycling equipment.
  11. Irrigating outdoors during and within 48 hours following measurable rainfall is prohibited.
  12. No restaurant may serve water except upon customer request.
  13. Hotels and Motels must offer their guests the option to not have their linens and towels laundered.
  14. Hand-held trigger shut-off devices are required with a water hose.


The following is a list of ways to prevent water waste:

  1. Check your toilet for leaks
  2. Cover swimming pool to slow down the evaporation.
  3. Install a low-flow showerhead to reduce water use by 50% or more.
  4. Take a five-minute shower instead of a bath
  5. Bathe in a tub less than half-filled with water.
  6. Put a water-filled plastic jug in toilet tank, away from working parts.
  7. Turn water off while shaving or brushing your teeth.
  8. Check faucets and pipes for leaks.
  9. Use only full loads in your automatic washers.
  10. Turn water off while washing dishes by hand.
  11. Water in the evening or morning to prevent rapid evaporation during the heat of the day.
  12. Avoid watering lawns on windy days.
  13. Plant drought-resistant plants.
  14. Mulch around plants.
  15. Use a broom to sweep the driveway clean.
  16. Use a bucket, a sponge and a hose with a shut-off valve to wash your car.
  17. In the event of an emergency, know where the shut off valve is located.
    " Water Saver Kits" are available free at the Public Works Department.
