This is in regards to your question regarding water softening appliances allowed in Stanford Crossing, Lathrop, please note thatit is illegal to install a new self-regenerating or "automatic" water softener in the portion of the City located west of Interstate 5.
PerLathrop Municipal Code Chapter 13.05.030 Prohibition against self-regenerating water softening appliances.
No person shall install or in any manner assist with the installation of a residential self-regenerating water softening appliance or nonresidential self-regenerating water softening appliance within the water recycling plant service area or any community sewer system that is tributary to the water recycling plant service area. (This pertains to developments West of I-5 including (but not limited to) River Islands, Mossdale and Stanford Crossing)
Limiting the availability, or prohibiting the installation, of self-regenerating water softening appliance is a necessary means of reducing saline discharge to our water/waste disposal systems. Alternatively, you can opt to install “salt-free” water softening devices that available in the market. I’ve attached the water softener handout with a copy of the Lathrop Municipal Code Chapter 13.05 pertaining to Water Softening Appliances for your reference.
In addition, a building permit is required when installing water softening appliances. Please contact the Building Department at (209)941-7270 for more info on the Building Permit application process. Please follow the link to the City of Lathrop Building Department webpage for more information https://www.ci.lathrop.ca.us/building/page/building-permits-0
