Hello,
A few evenings ago I noticed several police cars and a group of officers at the top of the levee ramp at Spartan Way (across from Dry Creek Place). I assumed they were there regarding the person camping under the tree at that location and was hopeful that meant that person would be moving on. Unfortunately, the same gentleman is now settling in farther down the bank (facing the river at the ramp he's now over to the right on the flat area of riverbank).
I understand the trickiness of these situations as its not really illegal to be there, however it is concerning to me as a Lathrop citizen for the safety and cleanliness of our town and integrity of our river area. This area is used daily by numerous people out for exercise or recreation, not to mention the animal wildlife of the river area and their habitat. It would be to the town's benefit to keep the river area in a healthy state.
I hope this issue can be further addressed and kept an eye on. Thank you for your time.
This morning (Sept. 20) when I took my daily walk, there is a tent pitched in the new location at the flat part of the bank and there was a pick up truck parked on the levee, lic. plate # 6k79984 . This evening the same truck was parked down on Spartan Way.
