With the opening of the new Lathrop Food Court at the site of the old USA Motors car lot on Harlan Rd. it has brought up a lot of problems with vehicles parking in the marked NO PARKING areas on both the North and South bound lanes as well as the numerous Semi Trucks, sometimes three and four at a time, parking in the middle turn lane.

This is a very unsafe situation for not only cars but for pedestrians, ie. truck drivers and passengers getting out of trucks at their drivers side door to cross the street to get something to eat. (Just today I almost took out two people who were getting out of a truck in the middle of the road and jumped out into my lane.)

It is a blind curve there and with the added vision blockage of trucks and unseen oncoming traffic there is a real safety issue and someone is going to get hurt.

There is also an issue with trash from food containers, wrappers, drink cups and napkins being tossed on the road in the area.

The food court had no business being able to be placed in that location. the idea was never thought through and the risks never addressed. It may have looked good on paper, but in reality it was a bad decision made in haste to stop the complaints of a few that causes issues for many.

More police presence is needed in that particular area between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM. (Lunch through Dinner times.) To write tickets and try and cut down on the number of cars parked along the road.
