I am writing on behalf of the residents of Lathrop to formally request the installation of a speed bump and other appropriate traffic-calming measures on road leading to school zones.
In recent months, we have observed a significant increase in vehicles traveling at excessive speeds along this roadway. Unfortunately, this has already led to several accidents, including Lathrop high school student, raising serious safety concerns for residents, pedestrians, and especially children in the area.
The character of our neighborhood—residential homes, nearby schools, and frequent pedestrian activity—demands stronger safeguards. A speed bump, along with proper signage and possible flashing indicators, would serve as an effective deterrent to reckless driving and would encourage compliance with posted speed limits.
We respectfully ask the City of Lathrop to conduct a site evaluation at the earliest opportunity and consider prioritizing our street for traffic-calming installations. The community is deeply concerned that without immediate action, further accidents or injuries may occur involving our school children.
