Extremely concerned for our communities health and safety regarding the new battery manufacturing MegaFactory being built close to our homes. How will this not be harmful to our health?

Response EM to Elizabethimedina@att.net on 10/5/2021. skb

Good Morning Elizabeth:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Tesla’s new battery MegaFactory.  The location of Tesla’s new factory is within a fully entitled industrial park.  The nearest residential to the factory is more than 2,200 feet away from the industrial park.  All businesses located within an industrial area must provide information on their manufacturing processes, the materials and chemicals used in the processes, the amount of materials and chemicals stored on the premises, and how they are stored and contained on the property.  These items among others are viewed, permitted, and approved by regulatory agencies at the State, County, and City level depending upon the make-up of the product.  In addition to the City’s regulatory staff, outside agencies reviews and permitting may include the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, the Lathrop Manteca Fire District, San Joaquin County’s Environmental Health Department and Office of Emergency Services.

Should you have specific concerns, please provide the details and we will see if they can be addressed.

Have a good day.

Sincerely,

Shelley Burcham, CEcD, EDFP
