Building Inspections

The inspections that follow the issuance of the permit are required to insure that work completed on your project meets current building codes and standards. Unsatisfactory work, faulty materials or violations of the code could result in unsafe and hazardous conditions for you, your family, your employees or the general public.

WHEN CAN I SCHEDULE AN INSPECTION:

  1. Inspections must be requested by 4:00 pm the business day before the inspection is needed.
  2. Inspections MAY NOT BE REQUESTED if you do not have the JOB CARD AND PERMIT IN HAND. Inspections that are requested without having Job Card, Signed Permit and Approved Plans (if applicable), will be failed and charged a re-inspection fee.
  3. AM (8:00am to 12:00pm) and PM (12:00 pm to 4:00pm) options are available. Be sure you are ready for a morning inspection by 8AM and an afternoon by 12PM. Failure to be ready may result in a re-inspection fee to be paid prior to re-inspection and can not be rescheduled for two business days.
  4. You will need to have your project inspected before any work is covered up. For example, you will need to have rebar inspected before pouring concrete for a foundation.
  5. Except for new construction with no occupancy, be sure that someone is onsite to provide access to occupied properties when the inspector comes. Failure to provide access may result in a re-inspection fee.
