San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District - Aerial Spraying Operation

On Monday night, September 15, 2025, the San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District conducted an aerial spraying operation over the City of Manteca to reduce populations of Aedes aegypti (yellow fever mosquitoes). These mosquitoes are considered a nuisance because of the high number of bites reported in the area.

The operation was planned in coordination with public health guidelines and was conducted at a very low application rate—about two-thirds of an ounce per acre in a fine mist. The treatment is designed to kill mosquitoes on contact, and any residue breaks down in sunlight within a few hours.

Some residents in Lathrop may have noticed the plane briefly entering local airspace. This was due to flight turns and positioning, but the treatment itself was targeted to Manteca.

The District provides public notifications for all spraying operations, and anyone may sign up for free alerts via text or email. Visit www.sjmosquito.org and scroll to the bottom of the homepage under “Stay Informed” to subscribe.

The San Joaquin County Mosquito & Vector Control District has safely conducted aerial spraying operations for many years in compliance with state public health and safety codes. If you have additional questions, please contact the District directly at www.sjmosquito.org.
